Q: Can adults go on the Zip wires?
A: Yes they can as long as the model is using 6mm
Q: What is better a seat or handle?
A: For younger children the Seat is always much better.
Q: Do you sell harnesses?
A: No, a harness is intended for big fall heights, and requires adult supervision both at the start of the ride and the end. Our equipment is designed to skim the user a couple of feet above the ground removing any fall height risk and allowing children to play without adult intervention.
Q: Does the tyre brake system work as well as the spring brake?
A: The tyre brake will stop the trolley so you do not hit the tree at the finish, but it's always a very hard stop unlike the spring brake that absorbs the energy and then bounces you back up the ride up to 10m for small children.
Q: Do you have to drill through the tree?
A: Yes you do when fitting the drum tensioner and cable holding device, they both fit on the back of the tree once you have drilled right through the tree. We do sell very long auger drill bits 600mm long. The tree diameter can not exceed 600mm.
Q: My plastic wheels have broken but it is not a very old the set?
A: The nylon wheels will always break before anything else goes wrong. If this happens you can replace the wheels but they only break for 2 reasons. 1. Too much weight on the ride or 2. You have extended the cable from what was in the kit. If you do not change the use back to the recommended use the wheels will break again, preventing a more serious problem.
Q: Why can't I buy one of the cheaper toy sets and just buy a longer cable?
A: The cable that comes in each of plastic sets are the maximum length the nylon wheels can take before they heat up and break. You will see that as the weight/length goes up so does the cable thickness from 3mm to 4mm, 6mm
etc. Also the number of wheels which spread the weight over 2 or 4 wheels.
Q: Why do the plastic sets have no brake option unlike the 6mm and 10mm
A: The plastic sets are designed for both ends to be at the same height for younger children, if you put a brake at the finish it will shatter the plastic trolley. The 6mm
trolleys that can have a brake are metal and will not be damaged.
Q: I have a slope on my garden is this ideal for a Zip wire?
A: If you have a small difference in heights it is OK but big slops are not suitable. The best is level ground for a zip wire for your garden.
Q: I want my children to use the Zip wire but can adults sometimes have a go?
A: If you need the set to take adult weights as well on the ride take advice as the set will need to cope with them.
Q: I have no trees in my garden what do I do?
A: You will need to build a structure take advice as what design will suit best depending on the distance.
Q: Why are the 6mm
sets so expensive?
A: The main reason is due to the safety and extra strength. Cables are made with 133 smaller strand which all make a smooth, strong ride. Warning some companies may offer 49 strand cables (7X7) which is not suitable for zip wire use. If you have existing cable call us to check the specification. If it has a fibre core it is not suitable. 7x7 cable with fibre core cable costs half the price but will be to slack and wears the nylon wheels very quickly. Our cable also come with a machined hard eye, and a fused and tapered end to prevent fraying.
Q: Why are all the plastic and steel trolley enclosed?
A: Our whole range, from the cheapest to the most expensive are enclosed to stop finger and hair entrapment.
Q: Why do the 6mm
sets stop at 40m and the 10mm
sets stop at 80m?
A: The reason the sets have limits are due to safety testings. If more than 80m of 10mm
cable is used its outside of testing and will put more strain upon the equipment than designed/tested for.
Q: What is the longest length for a commercial application?
A: 40m would be the longest in a playground.
Q: I have 2 trees but I do not want to drill them, what can I do?
A: Depends on the distance, sometimes you can loop round at both ends take advice on this point when calling.
Q: Do I need a harness for the zip wire ride?
A: No, a seat will always be ok as the fall heights will always be low.
Q: I have tree house can I launch from it?
A: Depends on the height and distance or the ride. Call for advice.
Q: What guarantee does the zip wire sets have?
have 5 years guarantee on the cable, trolley, tensioner, seat/monkey handle, cable holding device, end stopper and all clamps and thimbles. The spring brake, finger guards, internal brake rubber and wheels have 6 months due to amount of use.
Q: What is the minimum recommended age for a zip wire?
A: We recommend 8 years and up.
Q: What is the maximum weight the sets can take.
A: Each set states the maximum weights and our advice is always be 3/4 inside this. IE: 6mm equipment has an 18 stone maximum but does not want more than 14 stone in use.
Q: Are zip wires dangerous?
A: No if set up correctly, if your fall height is too much then it is dangerous. Please take advice when you call.
